Families who have a child with a disability may be eligible for transport through the Assisted School Travel Program (ASTP).

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Assisted School Travel Program, families need to meet the following criteria:

1. Have their child enrolled in a Department of Education Support Class

2. Have demonstrated inability to provide or arrange travel for their child, due to factors such as lack of drivers licence, school or work hours, or a proven medical condition (with medical certificate as proof)

To provide proof of your inability to provide travel for your child, be prepared to provide one of the following:

1. A statement detailing that you do not have a drivers licence or car.

2. Details of your place of employment, including days and hours of work.

3. Details of your education at TAFE or University, including a copy of your timetable.

4. An ASTP Medical Certificate, completed by your family's medical practitioner.
