On Wednesday, September 11, I had the pleasure of supporting 6 students to the Sydney South West Regional Athletics Championships. We all had a terrific day and the behaviour of all students was exceptional. The standard of competition was very high as competitors strove for a position in the State Carnival.Smithfield Public School should be extremely proud because 3 of our 6 athletes will now go on and compete at the State Athletics Carnival.

Selena Tualauta placed 2nd in the senior girls Discus and 3rd in the senior girls Shot Put.

Leiven Vunipola won the 11yrs boys High Jump and

Viliami Havea placed 2nd in the 11yrs boys Discus.

These 3 students will now progress to the State Carnival on Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th October at the Sydney Athletics Centre, Homebush.

Congratulations!!!!! - Selena, Leiven and Viliami.

Other terrific results were:

Wilson Tran - 5th in the 11yrs boys Long Jump and 4th in the 11yrs boys 100m, heat

Justin Lang -  5th in the senior boys 800m

Elena Antic -  4th in the junior girls 200m heat and 7th in the 10yrs girls 100m
