Physical Domain

Recognising the importance of physical development, we support students in enhancing their coordination, health, and physical skills through targeted activities and sports.

School Sport- Offered weekly, focussed on developing fundamental skills in major sports.

PSSA GALA Days -Students at Smithfield Public School compete against other schools from across the network in 2 competitive sporting events each term, in both summer and winter sports.

Swimming- Yearly 3-6 swimming carnival with high potential students progressing to Zone, Regional and State.

Cross Country- Yearly K-2 and 3-6 school carnivals identifying high potential students that progress to Zone, Regional and State.

Athletics- Yearly K-6 school carnival identifying high potential students that progress to Zone, Regional and State.

Horsley Zone Representative Team- Students recognised as high performers in sports such as; rugby, Netball, soccer and cricket are selected to represent the zone or region.

K-6 Athletics carnival

Students at Smithfield Public School compete in an annual K-6 Athletics carnival. It is a great day enjoyed by all. Successful students then go on to represent our school at the Zone carnival. From these students, some go on to represent the Horsley Zone at the regional carnival. We have also had students from Smithfield PS reach the state competition.

Swimming Carnivals

Smithfield Public School students in grades 2-6 compete annually in our swimming carnival. This fun filled day enables our talented students to showcase their skills. Successful students the represent Smithfield Public School at the Horsley zone swimming carnival. Some of our students also compete at regional and state levels.

Cross Country Carnivals

Each year, students compete in their respective grade group cross country carnivals (K-2 and 3-6). Students enjoy the in school competition and those who are successful further compete at the zone, regional and state competitions.

PSSA Gala Days

Students at Smithfield PS have the opportunity to represent our school in a range of summer and winter sports through the PSSA gala day competitions. In summer students can compete in AFL, cricket, softball, T’ball, touch football and Newcombe ball. In winter, the options are soccer, netball, rugby league, league tag and basketball.

Zone Teams

Talented students are provided with the opportunity to trial for zone teams. Recently, students were selected for the girls Rugby League Demonstration team, boy cricket and AFL zone teams.
