175th Birthday Celebration Performances

A standout highlight in 2025 was without a doubt our 175th birthday celebrations in Term 3—a truly exceptional series of events that brought our entire school community together. Our students took centre stage with outstanding performances that showcased their incredible talents, creativity, and spirit, leaving everyone inspired and amazed. The fun-filled fete that followed was buzzing with excitement, laughter, and community connection, creating lasting memories. It was a true celebration of all things Smithfield Public School—our past, our present, and our bright future. The fete left lasting memories and continues to be the talk of the town.

Indigenous Cultural Group

At Smithfield PS, indigenous students are afforded may opportunities to celebrate and learn about their culture. Through regular Culture Group yarns, these students (and their interested friends) create traditional artworks. This group of students also performed a storytelling during NAIDOC celebrations and more recently, a traditional dance at the Smithfield PS 175th Celebrations.

Combined Network HPGE Project – Creative/Intellectual Year 1 Project

As part of a cross network High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) project, a Year 1 teacher and a library teacher collaborated to explore strategies that promote student choice and autonomy. They integrated these strategies into a combined research and writing project. Students identified as demonstrating high potential in the creative and/or intellectual domains were empowered to take ownership of their research topics, select their writing focus, and decide how to present their work.
